Here we go with another cool Photoshop video tutorial. In this video, we’ll look at a different way to sharpen photos. You might be used to using the Unsharp Mask or Smart Sharpen filters in Photoshop which do a relatively good job.
But this time I’ll show you a way using the high pass filter. It’s just as fast and I personnaly think it’ more versatile and a lot less Continue Reading »

Here’s another great Photoshop tutorial from my buddy Gary Kapluggin. This guy is so creative and his Photoshop skillz rock! If you haven’t checked out his first tutorial as a guest poster on Yanik’s Photo School, have a look! You’ll be amazed at what this guy can do in post processing.
His digital art skills go wayyyyyyyyyyy beyond mine. And that’s why he’s back with his human cloning technique. Go ahead and try this technique out and post your images on our Flickr Group!
Ok, enough babbling. Have fun reading this great tutorial and especially trying it out!

Just a quick post to let you know that the photographer’s best friend, Adobe Photoshop CS4, is out! In the new ACR (Adobe Camera RAW), it added some of the very cool features that you can already find in Lightroom 2. They Added the Adjustment Brush and the Graduated Filter, which makes perfect sense.
There’s also a couple new new goodies like the Adjustments Panel and Panning & Zooming. You can check out the whole list of new features HERE.
To see some cool videos from Scott Kelby and the NAPP team explaining the new features, have a looksy HERE.

Welcome to a new Photoshop video tutorial at Yanik’s Photo School. I’ve had a couple of requests on a tutorial focused on changing the specific color of a subject, like turning a green apple purple. So I went ahead and did it. You see, my suggestion box really does work. Ask and you shall should receive.
I’ll show you 3 different ways of changing a subject’s color. I’m sure there are many more but in this tutorial, I’ll focus on Continue Reading »

It’s time for me to review another great Website for you to enjoy (You can check out all my website reviews here). Yes, I know you love it here but remember that one of the reasons you keep coming back is that you always learn something new. For me to post great content, I have to be inspired and I do that by constantly searching the Web and learning myself. And today’s no exception.
Let me introduce you to DIY Photography. If you’ve never heard the expression DIY, it stands for “do it yourself”. DIYP is dedicated to giving you tips on how to do photography related “stuff” on your own. It could be anything from all aspects of studio equipment to some Continue Reading »

Alrighty! It’s time to lighten things up a bit today.
Yes, I could show you how to use the liquify tool the boring way by thinning thighs and plumping lips the “real way” but to hell with that! Let’s have fun!
I used a shot of Joey Lawrence that I took after my RockBand shoot in Calgary. My buddy Joey is Continue Reading »

It’s time for part 2 of my microstock workflow. If you missed part 1 that covered steps 1 through 7, you can read it here.
Part 1 focused more on my workflow before the actual photo shoot and the photo shoot itself. In part 2, I’ll focus mainly on what I do after the shoot is done. This will cover steps 8 through 17. Without further ado, let’s get right to it.
Step 8: Backup, backup, backup. Did I say Backup? As soon as you fill up a card, back it up right away while you continue shooting. If you have a big memory card and can put a full day’s shoot on it, I suggest you do a mid-shoot backup. I back everything Continue Reading »

As you might already know, I’m a big fan of Lightroom 2 as you can see by me 3 video tutorials. So I’m pissin’ my pants so excited right now! I just discovered the DNG color profiles for Lightroom 2 or ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) 4.5. This is a life saver!
If you’re like me and you shoot Raw, you probably know that the Adobe Products have problems reading the Raw color profiles. It’s not really their fault. It’s that the manufacturers like Canon and Nikon “hide” some of the Continue Reading »
