7 Steps for Taking Photos in the Rain

cedre goute.thumbnail 7 Steps for Taking Photos in the RainIt’s raining right now… actually it’s pouring.  Which made me think that it would be a great tutorial idea to give you my tricks for shooting in the rain.

It’s not because it’s raining that you can’t go out and shoot.  Some great photography was done in the rain. Not a lot of people do it  because they think it’s “bad” weather. Water creates wonderful photography opportunities just like getting up at 4am to shoot the sunrise. It,s a unique experience that every passionate of photography must try. You won’t see rainy days the same way ever again. :)

YPS’s Top IPhone Photo Apps

Published by Yanik under Reviews, Software, Tips & Tricks

iphone YPSs Top IPhone Photo AppsThe IPhone is great! How’s that to start a post. :)   I’ve had mine for just 2 months now and it never leaves my side.

For me, one of the best things about the IPhone is the camera. Let’s face it. The image quality sucks. But that doesn’t matter. What’s important, as a photographer, is to always have a camera with you (and use it!) and the IPhone gives me that freedom without having to carry another small P&S camera with me. I don’t have to tell you that to become a better photographer, you need to shoot, shoot, shoot! Use it or loose it.

Published by Yanik under Before and After, TUTORIALS

lr logo Before and After Photos from NYCWell, as you already know, I had a blast in NYC! It was 5 days well spent in great company. My good friend and fellow photographer Martin Perreault and I crashed at our buddy’s place Joey Lawrence.

On our first walk, we went to the Brooklyn Bridge and did a quick lighting setup using SB-800s. Check out the lighting tutorial if you missed it! We took turns shooting each other and the results were fantastic. Lots of Continue Reading »

Shooting on the Brooklyn Bridge – Lighting Tutorial

Published by Yanik under Lighting Tutorials, TUTORIALS

flash intro.thumbnail Shooting on the Brooklyn Bridge Lighting TutorialAs most of you know, my friend Martin and I went to visit our good buddy and fellow pro photographer Joey Lawrence in New York city not long ago. He needed our help choosing rooftop furniture for his new pad so we were happy to fly down and give him a hand. ;) Hehehehe. Ok, maybe not, even though we did go to Ikea and helped out. It also goes without saying that we took out our cameras a few times in NYC. :)

But the most fun I had was doing this improvised shoot on the Brooklyn Bridge. We basically took turns shooting each other once everything was set up. Before I get into the lighting details, here’s a list of the equipment we used: Continue Reading »

An Eventful Day

Published by Yanik under Personal

If you’re following me on Twitter, you’re probably aware of my car accident 2 days ago. It was pretty major but thank goodness I’m still in one piece.
vide An Eventful Day
I was stopped at a red light when a big truck decided to use me as a break. It worked! And the 4 vehicles in front helped out too. A little domino effect. Needless to say I got sandwiched.

Once I got my bearings back, I palpated my neck for pain and wiggled my toes. Ok, nothing major. I proceeded to slowly Continue Reading »

Split Toning in Photoshop – Video Tutorial

ps logo2 Split Toning in Photoshop Video TutorialI guess some of you still don’t have Lightroom 2 because you asked me if it was possible to do split toning in Photoshop. :) The answer is YES. If you have CS4, you can actually do split toning just like in Lightroom using ACR. But if you’re like me and still using an older version of Photoshop there’s still a way to do it.

In this Photoshop video tutorial, I’ll show you how to do split toning just like in my Lightroom split toning tutorial. There are a few more steps to get there compared to Lightroom but we still get there. To be honest, split toning in Continue Reading »
