Zoo Photography from Los Angeles

Published by Yanik under Personal

C15 0260 Edit.thumbnail Zoo Photography from Los AngelesWell, I’m back from sunny California and for a first trip down there, I have to say that I had a blast! The weather was perfect for the 7 days I was there and my friend Kerri was the best hostess and guide.

I visited Huntington Beach, Santa Monica, San Diego and, of course the L.A. zoo and aquarium. I did find out after that the San Diego zoo was much better but I didn’t have the time to squeeze it in since I spent a whole day hunting and capturing my very new Nikon D300s! :) I got one of the first 3 in California! Woohoo! But I digress….

Nikon D300s Video Sample

Published by Yanik under Reviews, hardware

DSC 0401.thumbnail Nikon D300s Video SampleAs promised in myD300s photo samples post a few days back, I’m back with the video footage taken on that same day on the St-Laurence river.

All of the D300s movie clips are unprocessed straight out of the camera filmed in HD. I used my trusty Nikkor 80-400mm VR lens and I spent most of the time between 250-400mm with the VR on.

I gave it a nice test run a few days back. My friend Martin and I headed out to Montreal’s St-Laurence river to witness a growing trend…. surfing! Yup! You read right. People are now surfing in Montreal. :) Surfers slide into a “static” wave and basically surf on the spot. Pretty cool!

Creating HDR Images Directly in Lightroom – Video Tutorial

lr logo1 Creating HDR Images Directly in Lightroom Video TutorialHere I was just doing my daily Web surfing when I came across a Youtube video by Michael James. In this video, he compares various ways of creating HDR images. The one that caught my attention was Lightroom plugin Enfuse. The reason it caught my attention was the fact that I could create an HDR image directly in Lightroom without ever leaving Lightroom! I’m all about workflow efficiency and this option sounded great. If you missed my Photoshop tutorial on HDR, you can also check it out.
