Off Campus Learning Links Has Ended

For the past year or so I’ve been posting monthly links to other great photography learning posts and articles across the Web. Stuff that I found to be of value to you, my loyal readers.

Since the arrival of Twitter, things have changed in the way I send you Off Campus Learning Links. I see great stuff popping up on my Twitter feed on a daily basis and I retweet them right away to all that are following me. For the last few months, I would basically copy some of those links into an Off Campus Learning Links post. This was quite redundant for me not to mention a tad more time consuming. So I’ve taken the decision to stop posting Off Campus Learning Links.

I encourage you to follow me on Twitter and I guaranty that you’ll get at least 10 times the amount of links that I would post here. Not to mention seeing my daily iPhone photos as a bonus.

As you can see, I’m still sharing important photography learning stuff with you guys but in a more efficient way. You get more bang for your buck! If you’re still reluctant to sign on to Twitter, you can follow my last 3 tweets in the blog’s sidebar.

Off Campus Learning Links for September

That time of the month again to round up some uber cool photography tutorials from around the web. It’s always a fun experience for me to write this post for you since I learn so much every day from talented photographers like you. It’s one of the reasons I love my job so much!

Photo Tidbits has a very detailed tutorial on the depth of field (DOF).

For the more advanced Photoshop users out there, TheDesignCubical has an awesome Color Correction walkthrough.

Peta Pixel has the simple steps to taking good humming bird shots. On the same subject, you can also check out Yanik’s Photo School’s tutorial on taking perfect bird photos.

If you’re a parent wanting great photos of your kids, check out these 8 tips from Digital Photography School.

Photoritic.org has an eye-opening article on the Dirty Tricks of Food Photography. A deliciously fun read.

Imaging Professional has a great tutorial on stacking high ISO files in Photoshop to reduce the final noise output. Very cool!

Photographer Derek Powazek has a Savy Approach to Copyright Messaging. Nice!

Last but not least, a superbe post by one of my favorite photographers Chase Jarvis on things to do when your creativity is stale. Quite inspirational!

Off Campus Learning Links for August

D-Town TV did a 5 part series on lenses which a re just superb, especially if you’re just getting into photography with a DSLR. Of course, it’s Nikon oriented but even if you don’t use the Nikon system, you’ll learn some very useful stuff.

Creative Light

Creative Light, a maker of light modifiers and studio gear has some great video lighting tutorials out on Youtube so I thought it woud be great to put all 4 right here! I love these kinds of lighting videos.

Have you lost or broken your lens hood? Not to worry because there’s a site out there called Lenshoods.co.uk that has pratically all the lens hood paterns out there. Just print out yours, cut it out and put it on your lens! How cool is that!

Over at DIY Photography, Udi posted a great video on biulding you mini studiofor creating pure white backgrounds on the cheap. Check it out.

Off Campus Links for July

Hi guys! I hope your summer shooting is up to par!

I’ve been really busy so I hope you’ll forgive my sporadic postings.

Here are your off campus learning links for July…. enjoy!

Let’s get the ball rolling with a terrific keynote address on the consequences of creativity by Chase Jarvis. It’s about 1 hour but it’s really worth it! You’ll thank me for it.

I really enjoyed this blog post by Joe McNally called Rub a Dub Dub in Dobbs

Yuri Arcus gives us a tour of his humble stock photo studio (picks up jaw from floor)

This dates back from April but it’s just wonderful. Zack Arias pushes the creativity envelope to make a group shot of a bunch of pro photographers. No pressure.

Lightroom 2.4 came out not long ago. If you haven’t updated it, you can do so here.

Off Campus Learning Links for June

It’s time for your monthly dose of off campus learning links.

I have a few link from Digital Photography School. The first one is on the business of photography giving you pointer on How to Become a Professional Photographer. The next tutorial is on Post processing. It’s a nifty trick that I didn’t even know about. Heck! There’s a lot I don,t know about in Photoshop! It’s all about finding a pure 50% grey pixel to color correct your image. Check it out!

Over at Six Revisions, they put together a great list of the top 30 Photoshop Lighting effects tutorials. Pretty cool stuff.

Just got Lightroom? Or had it for a while but you were so eager to play with it that you never even bothered to look at the software’s preferences? You know who you are! Check out this tutorial by The Lightroom Lab on setting up your preferences.

And last but not least, a lighting tutorial from Lighting Essentials using just 1 speedlight and the sun to create the famous Flashdance water shot. Nice!
