How to Use Speed Lights with Studio Softboxes

flash intro.thumbnail How to Use Speed Lights with Studio SoftboxesHere’s a DIY option to use your speed light with your studio softboxes.
vide How to Use Speed Lights with Studio Softboxes
I was looking at various ways to hook up my SB-800 to my softboxes and found a few options like the Westcott Slipper but found it overpriced considering you could get an Ezybox for less. Being determined to find a way, I continued my hunt. And last week I got lucky and found this Youtube video by Stephen Poff from someone on Twitter who RT it. In his video, he shows how he used a Justin clamp with his speed light and studio softbox. My jaw dropped to the floor! It’s so simple!

Split Toning in Photoshop – Video Tutorial

ps logo2 Split Toning in Photoshop Video TutorialI guess some of you still don’t have Lightroom 2 because you asked me if it was possible to do split toning in Photoshop. :) The answer is YES. Adding Subtle Colors to Black and White Images – Lightroom Video Tutorial

lr logo Adding Subtle Colors to Black and White Images Lightroom Video TutorialIn this new Lightroom 2 video tutorial, I’ll show you how to add a subtle splash of color to a black and with image.  This technique is very similar to  my Lightroom split toning tutorial where you convert an image to B&W then add color to it. The main difference is that split toning affects the whole image and you can only use 2 colors (one for shadows and one for highlights) while using the gradient filter and the adjustment brush gives you more Continue Reading »

Lightroom Photo Gallery Templates

lr logo1 Lightroom Photo Gallery TemplatesWe all want to show off our photos as best as possible on the Web and one of the best ways of doing this is with a Lightroom photo gallery. I showed you how to build one not long ago but I want to give you more resources than just the standard templates. Don’t get me wrong, I love the default templates and I use them all the time but you know what they say. Variety is the spice of life.  :)

The Orton Effect in Photoshop – Video Tutorial

ps logo2 The Orton Effect in Photoshop Video TutorialIn this Photoshop video tutorial, I’ll show you 2 ways of creating the Orton Effect. The Orton Effect was created by a photographer called Michael Orton back in prehistoric times the days of film.
