BULB mode, abbreviated B on most cameras, is a shutter speed setting that allows for long exposure times under the direct control of the photographer. In BULB mode, the shutter stays open as long as the shutter release button remains depressed. Some DSLR cameras have a second option to depress the shutter button once to start the long exposure and depressed again to stop the long exposure.
