Lightroom Photo Gallery Templates

lr logo1 Lightroom Photo Gallery TemplatesWe all want to show off our photos as best as possible on the Web and one of the best ways of doing this is with a Lightroom photo gallery. I showed you how to build one not long ago but I want to give you more resources than just the standard templates. Don’t get me wrong, I love the default templates and I use them all the time but you know what they say. Variety is the spice of life.  :)

After searching far and wide across the www for you, here are some of my favorites. Some are free and some are just worth the minimal price they ask.

LRB Portfolio

This is by far my favorite one. Why? Because for $15, yes, one-five, you can create a fully functional photography website! Sean McCormack did a great job here. You get a Home, About and Contact page and up to 6 photo galleries using the popular horizontal scroll bar look. It’s pack with features including a full user guide (how cool is that!). You can purchase it directly from his Website here or at Adobe.

FotoPlayer

This is a great free Lightroom plugin from FotoPlayer.com that has both Website templates and gallery templates. It has 5 for Websites and 15 for galleries. All are very customizable and if you’re not sure about certain features, there’s a complete online user guide. Way cool!

Lightroom Galleries

Lightroom Galleries is actually a site with many free photo galleries for Lightroom 2.  The galleries are clean and simple and show off your images well. Some of them even have Paypal integration if you ever want to sell your prints. A great new add-on for your Lightroom gallery templates, for sure!

The Turning Gate Templates

The Turning Gate also offers a bunch of free Lightroom web photo galleries and a couple paid ones too. One of my favorites from the bunch is the free Photo Stack. The only drawback is that you can’t see a live preview in Lightroom but it looks so cool. :) They also have a great HTML gallery called Client Response which is great if you have clients that need to make selections or leave comments. For only $10, I think it’s really worth it.

Foto Flow Gallery

Digital Crafts has a visually pleasing photo gallery for Lightroom 2 called Foto Flow. I’m listing it here because  of the 3D feel to it. But I have to say that I find it a bit pricey at $29.90 if you compare it to the likes of LRB Portfolio.

Slideshow Pro

Slideshow Pro is probably the photo gallery with the most customizable features but the look is very similar to other free products. Is it worth it for $35? Up to you to decide since you can try it free if you don’t mind big white letters across it.

And The Turning Gate also has a geat step by step tutorial on uploading your Web Photo Galleries directly from Lightroom. It’s worth the read! :) I couldn’t have done a better tutorial myself.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I had downloaded Fotoplayer to use with JAlbum but I would much prefer to do it myself through Lightroom and I didn’t even know it was possible. I love your site. I learn a lot every week.

What about the free Autoviewer? It’s easy to figure and customize!
    It even supports keyboard navigation!

I’m using Simpleviewer and like having the ability to disable the right click functions (copy, print etc), but want the larger image to be closer to full screen. Any suggestions?

    Hi Yannik,

I’d really like your tutorials and this one is a pleasure to see since I’m struggling myself to build a website with galleries. Do you know a possibility to create several galleries in one website and link them all through home-buttons or directly.

Try iWeb, rapidweaver or erm coffeecup? (pc) for a cheap and easy way to build a basic site to string together as many lightroom galleries as you like

Remember to check compatibilty on the nearest idevice, being flash based, many templates simply won’t work.

Thanks for your reaction Doug. Unfortunately that’s not what I meant. Maybe I should explain it better. The problem with these lightroom galleries (either flash or html based) is that one doesn’t have buttons with links. Like a homebutton, a contactbutton etc..
I would like to make these myself within the templates, but this is pretty difficult since the galleries are made in layers. I would like to add a navigation menu (CSS or javascript based) but don’t know how to manage that.

this site has some good lightroom web galleries, they ask for a donation if you like the gallery, they have a photo stack gallery but I like it most that the one in The turning gates http://www.paulvanroekel.nl/lightroom/
