Adding Texture to a Reflection in Photoshop – Video Tutorial
My most watched video tutorial of all time with over 16000 views has been “Adding a Reflection in Photoshop”. It’s a great tutorial and a technique that I’ve been using for some of my stock shots. What I found interesting is that many of you emailed me asking if it was possible to make the reflection look more real because it just looked too perfect. That made me think a bit and I do have to say that I agree with you.

So, in this Photoshop video tutorial, I explore different ways of making your reflection look more realistic. To do this I simply use some of the built-in filters in Photoshop. What I show you are just a few examples. If you know of other ways to create a realistic reflection effect in Photoshop, please share it in the comments. ![]()

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
This second step gives it that extra “something” that makes the reflection look so much more realistic, IMO.
Really loving the Ocean Ripple filter with the Gaussian Blur on top. Very nice.
